Duo hit the green in Solihull as part of 160 mile route for Molly Olly's Wishes

A PAIR of golfing friends are well into the swing of their fundraising tour.

Pat Manning from Warwick and Bill Ryan from Leamington have been visiting courses across Solihull and Birmingham as part of their 11-day golf challenge in aid of children’s charity Molly Olly’s Wishes

The duo have challenged themselves to walk 160 miles between 35 golf courses in Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands, stopping to play a hole at each.

At the start of the challenge the pair set out to raise £4,000 for the charity which was created following the death of Rachel and Tim Ollerenshaw’s eight-year-old daughter Molly from a rare kidney cancer.




However to date the Pat and Bill have raised a whopping £5,861.

Starting and finishing at Leamington and County Golf Club, they have been following a route via golf clubs across three counties, including Warwick, Kenilworth, Stoneleigh, Coventry, Sheldon, Solihull, Birmingham, Kings Norton, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Droitwich, Worcester, Evesham, Welford and Stratford-upon-Avon.


Local stop-offs include West Midlands Golf Club; Hatchford Brook Golf Club, Sheldon; Olton Golf Club; Robin Hood Golf Club, Solihull; Copt Heath Golf Club, Solihull; Widney Manor, Solihull; Shirley Golf Club; Hollywood Golf Club, Birmingham; Fulford Heath Golf Club, Birmingham; Kings Norton Golf Club, Alvechurch.

Speaking after day three of the challenge which saw the pair play a hole at Hatchford Brook – Olton -Robin Hood – Copton Heath and Widney Manor Golf Pat said: “It’s been a tough because of the bad weather but we both still feel good. Once again we received an excellent welcome from all the courses we visited.”

The challenge marks the first in a year of fundraising for Molly Olly’s Wishes at the Leamington and County Golf Club, at which both men are longstanding members.

Founder Rachel said: “Pat and Bill have certainly come up with a novel way to fundraise and one that will definitely be a challenge.

“The support from Leamington Golf Club and the wider golfing community to enable this event has been great and big thanks to everyone involved at the clubs and those who have donated.
