Drama students bring Steven Berkoff works to life

Sarah Mason 14th Feb, 2022

DRAMA students have bought Steven Berkoff’s plays to life at a showcase.

The year 12 students at Solihull Sixth Form College performed extracts from The Trial and Metamorphosis as part of their work on surrealist theatre.

These performances form part of the A level Drama course, in which students explore three contrasting plays from three different contexts that will not only enable students to widen their repertoire of theatre but to challenge them.

This term, students have been learning about Berkoff’s surrealist style of theatre and exploring ways to communicate meaning through the actor’s body.

Drama teacher Nadia Kouhi said: “It is wonderful to be able to invite an audience back to the theatre once again, following Covid restrictions last year.

“Students have been working incredibly hard to bring to life some of Steven Berkoff’s finest work.”
