Dorridge Day gets ready for cycling and recycling festival

DORRIDGE Park will be filled with cycling and recycling to mark Dorridge Day.

A Red Bull BMX stunt act is set to entertain the crowds at the Arden Road park on Sunday, September 8.

Organisers are hoping to make it as ‘environmentally friendly as possible’ and ask visitors to ditch their cars and cycle to the festival.

Dog owners are invited to bring their four-legged friends along to have a go on an agility course and relax in a chill-out zone.

Classic cars are also set to be shown and a rally will be held.

There will be food and drink stalls with a barbecue, a pop-up prosecco and gin bar, and ales on offer.

Organisers are on the look-out for sponsors and volunteers to help turn their eco-friendly festival hopes into a reality.

This year’s Dorridge Day chairman for the Knowle and Dorridge Round Table, Alec Kirkbride, said: “We will be delivering an amazing spectacle in September, with an environmental theme.

“All the usual family favourite attractions will be on show, with the inflatable fun for the kids, plus some amazing new attractions such as a climbing wall, and Redbull BMX stunt riders, who will be putting on a spectacular performance and will provide lessons and tuition.”

Alec added law firm Standley and Co is the main sponsor and more sponsors are sought.

Entrance costs £1 and all funds raised will be donated to Dorridge Scouts for car park repairs.
