Cyclist dies in Honiley crash

THE CYCLIST who died following a crash with a car in Honiley was an 81-year-old man from Solihull.

Emergency services were called to an incident on the A4177 Honiley Road outside the Honiley Court Hotel just after 10.30am on Saturday (June 27).

It is understood a silver bike and a blue Volkswagen Golf collided causing substantial damage to both the bicycle and the car with the cyclist – an 81 year-old-man from Solihull – being pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen – a 28 year-old-man also from Solihull – sustained minor injuries.




A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews attended a road traffic collision involving a car and cyclist.

“Despite the CPR efforts of an off duty police officer, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man who was confirmed dead at the scene.”


Police are now are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the driving of the two vehicles prior to the crash.
