Cheers! Shirley Beer Festival returns

Solihull Editorial 5th Apr, 2022   0

THE COUNTDOWN is on as Shirley Beer Festival prepares to make a long-awaited come back.

The event, which has been cancelled for the past two years due to Covid restrictions, will be held at Camp Hill Rugby Club on Haslucks Green Road on May 13 and 14.

The event, organised by Shirley Round Table and Shirley Ladies Circle, will have around 100 beers and 30 ciders across cask, keg and cider bars.

Doors open from 6pm until 10.30pm on May 13 and noon until 10.30pm on May 14.

There will be live entertainment on the Saturday from artists including Shan Tilley, Devon Mayson and Lycio, Matty.

Organisers say there will also be bouncy castles and face painting on offer for children.

The food court will be in place with handmade pizzas by Twisted Pizza, Jerk chicken by Caty’s Caribbean, Gurdevs Indian (curry etc), Betty’s Waffles, Rugby Club BBQ, The Good Food Cartel and an ice-cream van.

A comedy night is also being hosted at the rugby club on May 12 from 6.30pm.

A spokesperson for Shirley Round Table said: “Having had to cancel the event at the last minute in 2020 and having run a small “virtual” festival in 2021 it is really exciting for us to return in person at our home of Camp Hill Rugby Club, we really look forward to seeing the wider community back at our event.

“We’ve all been through a lot over the last couple of years and hope that getting back together as a community brings a smile to everyone’s faces and a chance to catch up over a couple of pints in the sun (fingers crossed) with some excellent entertainment for the whole family.

“As always, all profits go to local charities, including some which have been helping our community during the pandemic such as the Community Essentials food bank and delivery service, Fast Aid and others.”
