REDDITCH’S Trico stadium will be hosting an all-stars charity football match this weekend with all proceeds going to charities including the Charlie Fogarty Foundation.

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, July 10, and will see a Charlie Fogarty All-Stars team take on a Midlands side.

As well as the foundation, the profits will also go to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Trust Tadworth.

Some of the biggest names in Midlands football will be playing in the match including Aston Villa legend Stylian Petrov and former Coventry City centre-back Dave Busst.

Former Birmingham City stars Dele Adebola and Maik Taylor will also be playing.

Charlie Fogarty is from Solihull and had aspirations of becoming a footballer before being hit by a car overtaking a bus while crossing the road ten years ago.

He suffered a severe brain injury from the accident aged just 15 and spent four months at the Birmingham Children’s hospital which saved his life.

Since then he has defied the odds and he learned to walk, talk and do everyday tasks at The Children’s Trust in Surrey.

He started the Charlie Fogarty Foundation to raise money to support people who need additional help and support at some stage in their life.

In 2018 he received an MBE for services to young people in Solihull.

Tickets for the match are £10 for adults or £5 for under 12’s.
