Burst pipe leaves hundreds of Shirley homes without water

Solihull Editorial 16th Jan, 2018   0

HUNDREDS of homes in Shirley have been left without water or with only restricted access after a pipe burst.

Severn Trent announced this morning at 6am that many residents would be affected as an unidentified issue caused problems.

But at around 1pm, Severn Trent issued a further statement pinpointing a burst pipe as the source of the problem.

It has been unable to estimate when the homes would return to full water flow.

A spokesperson said: “This afternoon we’ve discovered a burst water pipe on Haslucks Green Road, which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some of our customers in the B90 area of Shirley, Solihull.

“Our teams are out on site now and will work hard to get this pipe fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

“We know how difficult it is to have no water and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

“We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can.

“Again we’d like to apologise for any disruption this may cause.”

An earlier Severn Trent statement said: “Customers in the B90 area of Shirley, Solihull may be experiencing no water or lower pressure than normal.

“We’re aware of an issue on the network and have teams out in the area now working hard to resolve the issue and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

“We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially at this time of day when you’re trying to get ready for work and school, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

“We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can.

“Again we’d like to apologise for any disruption this may cause.”
