Birmingham and Solihull Rugby Club ready to host fun day this weekend

Solihull Editorial 4th Sep, 2019   0

PREPARATIONS are under way for Birmingham and Solihull Rugby Club’s fun day on Sunday (September 8).

The club, known as the Bees, is organising the event where there will be obstacle courses, rugby rodeo as well as a barbecue at its ground in Forshaw Heath Lane in Portway.

From 10am until 2.30pm coaches from the club’s youth teams will also be on hand, offering sessions in the hope of attracting young talent who want to train with the club, which has recently withdrawn from the Midlands league system as part of a transition towards becoming an amateur club.

Pete Carr, club chairman, said: “This is an exciting new start for the Bees, after we decided to focus on rebuilding ourselves as an amateur club for all ages and abilities.

“It doesn’t matter if you have never picked up a rugby ball or if you have played previously and want to get back into training with a club and play, we will welcome new members who want to be part of a thriving community, meet new friends and enjoy playing a great team sport.”

The club is on the look-out for both girls and boys, aged six to 16, who are interested in training with the club with a view to progressing to the teams.

Entrance is free and there is parking available.
