THE BERKSWELL Windmill will open this weekend to celebrate National Mills Day.

The historic windmill in Balsall Common will open its doors this Saturday (May 13) including performances by folk singer Bill Pullen.

The Berkswell Windmill is one of the best known historic landmarks in Warwickshire and the Midlands.

From noon until 4pm there will be plenty on offer including a mini-stone for the children to attempt flour making, performances from the Coventry Weavers and Spinners.

The windmill’s ever-popular cream teas will also be on sale.

The mill was last used as a working Windmill, to mill flour in 1948 and today, looks just the same as it did then.

It is complete with all of its original machinery and is thought to be one of the most complete mills in the country.

There is a small entrance fee which includes a guided tour of £3.50 adults; £1 under 16s and £8 family ticket.

All proceeds go towards the maintenance of the Mill.
