BRATWURST, German beer and other Oktoberfest festivities were enjoyed by all at a Balsall Common care home.

Residents at Harper Fields care home celebrated Oktoberfest with a variety of food delicacies prepared by the dining team led by head chef Marcin including pretzels and chocolate lebkuchen hearts and some German beers thanks to Byatt’s Brewery in Coventry.

The Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest, it is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany in celebration of the marriage of the crown prince of Bavaria, who later became King Louis I, to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.

Hayley Wilkinson, general manager at the care home said: “Thank you to Byatt’s brewery the residents loved the bitter and beer.

“Thank you to all the team for dressing up in traditional costumes and to our residents for joining in the spirit of Oktoberfest, well done Racheal for providing German music and a ‘schuplatter’ dance, the day was truly wonderful.”
