BUDDING surgeons are being given the chance to find out more about the job and have a tour of operating theatres at a special open day this weekend.
Heartlands Hospital is set to host a Theatre Open Day on Saturday where students and job-seekers will be given the opportunity to tour of the Upper GI (Gastrointestinal) and the £4m Hybrid Theatres.
From 9am visitors will also be given he chance to take a closer look at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust’s state-of-the-art equipment.
The Trust, which runs Solihull, Good Hope and Heartlabnds Hospital is host to several regional specialties, including Thoracic, Vascular and Oncology services.
There are a total of 28 operating theatres, with 13 of these based at Heartlands, eight at Good Hope and seven at Solihull.
Debra Jones, Matron for Theatres, said: “We hope this day will provide our staff of the future with an insight into how theatres work and the different opportunities available.
“We have current roles available which have been advertised and we are interviewing on the day too. Our aim is to build on our current team whilst looking at how we can engage with our local community to encourage career paths with us.”
