A SOLIHULL artist who rediscovered her passion after being made redundant is set to open up her own gallery.

Faye Kent decided to reopen her paint box after she lost her job last January working for a West Midlands MEP in the European Parliament because of Brexit.

As the pandemic hit the 25-year-old was then faced with a lack of job prospects as the country went into lockdown.

While she waited for the job market to reopen she revisited her passion for painting and starting sharing her latest creations which were inspired by real women and the self-love movement on Instagram.

She wanted to make women feel amazing about themselves and embrace the female form in all aspects.

She was delighted to find an instant response and began selling her creations not just in the UK but worldwide with a particular high demand in the US, she then decided to go full-time.

Faye said: “Brexit and the pandemic gave me the chance to finally sit and draw.

“After doing my first commissions I found I was working crazy hours but I didn’t mind.”

As her business began to grow she started to turn her ambitions to opening Faye Kent Art – an art gallery in Solihull on Poplar Road.

She said: “This time last year I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would be opening a gallery.

“So the opportunity to open a gallery in Solihull is a little overwhelming but incredibly exciting, sales to date online and through social media have been extremely encouraging, especially shipping artwork overseas.

“The gallery is an opportunity for people to experience my art in person and will demonstrate if the retail model works for my business.”

The gallery will open its doors on Saturday, May 29.
