  • No long faces as Donkey Derby returns to Shirley Park

    THE DONKEY Derby is back in full swing for the 39th time in Shirley Park this Saturday (May 3).
    Organised by The Rotary Club of Shirley, the event has become an local institution amongst residents and never fails to pull in the crowds.
    This year the park gates will be opened at 12.30pm ready for the first race at 1.30pm. The Mayor of Solihull, Coun. Gary Allport and his wife Gail will formally start proceedings at 1.15pm.
    Admission plus a programme costs £1.50 although children under ten can enter free of charge.
