The very least the people of Solihull should expect from proposals to axe maternity services in the town is transparency.
And while it appears the calls of campaigners have been headed at this week's public meeting (see front page) it doesn't change the fact that the plug has been pulled - albeit allegedly temporarily - on maternity cover at Solihull Hospital.
The care trusts involved have promised to listen to the people of the borough when it comes to making a final decision.
But one can't help wondering whether or not this 'temporary' decision will ever be reversed.
Long may the transparency continue.
