    BALSALL Common was plunged into a state of shock after a man was stabbed in the village on Monday (May 12). A 40-year-old had to be airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire after police were called to an address in Ferndale Road at about 5.20pm where they found the man with a stab wound to the chest.     POLICE in Shirley have begun a murder investigation after a young woman was found stabbed to death in the street yesterday (Wednesday). The grim discovery was made in Berkley Road just after 8.15am by a nearby resident. The woman, who police have confirmed was 30-year-old, was found lying in a pool of blood and despite being taken to Heartlands Hospital was pronounced dead around 9am.
