IT IS easy to moan about Britain and the state it is in with debt and immigration, crime, problems in the NHS, antisocial behavior and falling standards in education.
But one thing that cannot be criticised is the community spirit that reveals itself in a crisis like this week's flooding.
People whose homes have been destroyed still smiling because it's the only way.
Neighbours inviting flood-ravaged families into their homes for dinner. Motorists stopping to help a stranger in need, emergency services helping the public while their own homes are under water. The young looking after the old and the old looking after the young.
There is much to be proud of.
