ONE of the British victims of the Algerian terrorist attack was a former Solihull worker.

BP engineer Sebastian John, aged 26 and from Nottingham, was among six Britons killed when a gas plant was overrun by heavily armed terrorists in Algeria.

Mr John, who had a seven-month-old boy with wife Nichola, joined the Solihull office of civil engineering firm Arup in 2010 and left the company to join BP last September.

He had been in Algeria for just a week when the fatal attack was carried out.

Arup boss Robert Care said: “Our hearts go out to his family.

“He was a truly outstanding graduate and made a fantastic contribution to numerous projects during his time at Arup.

“He was hugely respected by his colleagues and had a very bright future ahead of him.”

Mr John’s widow Nicola, added: “Sebastian was the most amazing person.

“He was a fantastic husband, father, son and brother. There won’t be a moment that goes by where we won’t think of him.

“We are so proud of Sebastian for all he achieved in his life. He was taken away from us too early and in the most tragic circumstances.

“We will always love him, he will be forever in our hearts and eternally missed.”
