Belper 1 Olton and West Warwicks 1
EHL Northern Conference
SAM Mee's early goal ensured Olton returned home from Derbyshire with a point to show for their efforts on Sunday.
The Ostriches, who travel to Bowden on Sunday, started brightly and took the lead through Mee in the early stages but the home side levelled halfway through the first half through a penalty stroke.
There were chances for both teams to take the lead before half time but neither could make them count, leaving everything to play for in the second half.
Olton started the second half the better of the two teams and had a number of good chances to take the lead for a second time, but struggled to convert them.
Belper only had one chance of note after the restart but like Olton, could not make it count, meaning both sides emerged with a point.
THE Ladies suffered a 3-2 Investec Premier League home defeat against Clifton.
Emma McCabe started brightly and gave Olton a tenth minute lead but Clifton got back on terms from a well worked short corner.
Amie Hone, who has really progressed since joining the club this season, scored a superb goal in the 25th minute to put Olton ahead again but the game was turned on its head in the space of five minutes when Belper scored twice in quick succession to suddenly lead at the break.
Olton came out strongly again at the start of the second half but despite applying plenty of pressure they were unable to get back on level terms.
The performance was a great improvement on the 5-0 defeat against Clifton the previous week but ultimately still a frustrating outcome.
They will hope for better when they entertain Bowden (12pm) at Grange Road on Saturday.
