THE COUNTDOWN to Christmas began in Knowle this week when Santa flew in to switch on the village's festive lights.

Villagers turned out in force for the ever-popular community event led by vicar Michael Parker outside Knowle Parish Church with the help of the Ardenaires band who provided the music for the carol renditions.

Santa arrived on his sleight to lead the countdown to the big switch on of the village's Christmas tree and festive lights all along the High Street.
