WHAT better way to blow the Christmas cobwebs and maybe a few unwanted pounds away than the annual Festive Walk organised by Knowle and Dorridge Lions.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, December 30 at Baddesley Clinton National Trust property and will be raising money for the Marie Curie Big Build, St Basil’s and Age UK Solihull, as well as a variety of other local causes

“Last year’s ideal walking conditions attracted a record 1,700 walkers to burn off the Christmas calories,” said Lions organiser Ute Smith.

“This year we are hoping the weather will stay on our side, and hope to raise thousands of pounds for these very worthy causes.”

“As usual there will be no charge to take part, so tell your friends and relatives, put it on your Festive calendar and bring a car full."

There will be the usual choice of three distances – the 1.5-mile Festive Family Trail with a special Festive quiz for the children with prizes, and more demanding 5.5 and 8-mile sign-posted circular routes all passing through the surrounding countryside using country lanes, public footpaths and canal towpaths with a pub along the way.

The National Trust will open Baddesley Clinton and are offering Festive Walkers free entry to both House and Gardens when they finish.

Afterwards all walkers are invited to join the Lions for hot mince pies and mulled wine or visit the restaurant.

More details and a sponsorship form are available from: www.knowleanddorridgelions.com/walk or by calling 08458 33 58 94.
