SOLIHULL Theatre Company is preparing to celebrate 20 years entertaining the town in style with a party this Friday night (November 30).

STC was founded in the town by four friends over a bottle of wine some 20 years ago and has grown from strength to strength ever since entertaining audiences with its first performance - The Boyfriend back in 1992.

Since then shows performed by the amateur musical theatre company have included everything from musical favourites like South Pacific, Hello Dolly and Carousel right through to more challenging shows like Sweeney Todd and an award winning performance of Jekyll and Hyde.

Most recently, STC thrilled audiences with Sugar, a comedy musical version of the classic film Some Like it Hot – its first ever performance at Solihull Arts Complex.

And rehearsals are now well underway for next year’s production of the ever popular Calamity Jane.

And to celebrate their anniversary the company has arranged a party celebration for all members past and present.

Current Society Chairman and original founder member, Chris Macrow, said: “I look back on the last 20 years with a mixture of immense pride and disbelief.

“When I, Sarah, Pauline and Steve set up STC we said if we got 4 - 5 Years out of it we would be really pleased! 20 years later we have an established respected society of amateur thespians who I truly believe can go on forever!

“Everything we set out to do when forming the group has and continues to happen. A relaxed platform for new talent to try something they’ve always wanted to try; a professional business where experienced amateur talent can excel; a group where all ages respect and mentor each other; in short, as professional as you can get, with fun and social engagement running right through it!

“One week at STC can make you feel like you’ve been with us for the last 20 years! The welcome is with arms wide open; the work ethic is awesome but fun, and the shows are of the highest standard! Congratulations STC, and may we go on and on.”

Anyone who has been a part of STC’s success over the last 20 years, either on stage or behind the scenes, is invited to come along and celebrate their 20th Anniversary with them at the anniversary party, in Solihull on November 30.

Ticket details can be found at www.solihull-theatre.co.uk or by emailing the membership secretary at secretary.solihulltheatre@gmail.com.
