Hampton in Arden 5 Stratford 0
MRHA West Midlands Premier
HAMPTON kept up their perfect start to the season with a comfortable victory against Stratford on Saturday.
Working hard from the start, Hampton were clearly keen to maintain their position at the top of the table and a bright opening was rewarded when league top goalscorer Dafydd Bowles slotted home a trademark drag flick.
As they did last week, Hampton shared the goalscoring efforts around and Tom Brammer picked up the team's second with a cool finish before Rhys Doherty and Alex Grafton got in on the act.
Warwick Laverick then got the final touch to a well-worked short corner routine to complete the scoring.
Stratford battled hard towards the end of the game in order to grab a consolation but cool defending from Scott Powell in defence kept them at bay.
THE 2nds were beaten 4-2 by Nottingham 2nds and the 4ths fell to a 2-1 defeat against Rugby and East Warwickshire 7ths. There was disappointment for the 3rds as their scheduled fixture was postponed.
THERE was more disappointment for the Ladies as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Cannock 2nds in Midlands Two.
As has been the case in recent weeks, they showed glimpses of what they are capable of with some good interplay and strong tackling but again they were unable to prevent their opposition gaining the upper hand.
Cannock an early lead in a relatively even first half that saw both sides pushing hard but finding few opportunities.
The start of the second half was much the same but Cannock then went on to prove why they are second in the table as they worked at the home team's weaknesses and began to take control.
Gradually they extended their lead and despite a powerful short corner strike from Kat Vaughan, Hampton ended up on the wrong end of the 4-1 scoreline.
THE 2nds overcame Warwick 3rds 8-0 thanks to Lisa Bird, Rachel Field, Romy Silvers and Cindy Holmes but the 3rds were beaten 4-0 by Sutton Coldfield 6ths.
