SEVERN Trent Water’s choir has stormed to victory in BBC Two's The Choir: Sing While You Work.

The 30 strong choir - which included Coventry meter reader Liam McNamara - sang to victory with their rendition of Feeling Good, made famous by Nina Simone, Muse and Michael Bublé.

They beat the Royal Mail and Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust in the final on stage in front of thousands at one of the world’s most prestigious choral music festivals - the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen.

Jean Harrison, a commercial waste technical specialist at the Coventry-based water firm, said: "Words cannot describe adequately just how we all feel about this amazing experience.

"To actually come away as the victorious choir was something we dreamed of, but the reality of it coming true is something else."

More than 200 workers from across the firm auditioned for a place in the choir, but just 30 were chosen to compete in the programme which aimed to bring workers together.

Each team had coaching from Gareth Malone, the man behind the Military Wives.
