Hi: 15° Lo:3° 7 day

A GLASGOW man has appeared in court accused of driving a hire car south of the border to go on a £12,000 shoplifting spree in Solihull.
It’s alleged the 18-year-old – arrested near Touchwood shopping centre on Sunday afternoon (October 14) – stuffed coats, dresses, tops and perfume into modified bags designed to block signals from store security alarms.
Solihull magistrates heard claims the man, from the Rockhill area of Glasgow, stole from outlets like French Connection, Zara, Hollister and River Island and repeatedly loaded garments into the car.
He appeared at Solihull Magistrates this morning (October 15) charged with six counts of theft and was remanded into custody.
He will re-appear at the same court on Thursday (October 18).
