SILHILLIANS bowed their heads in respectful silence at the weekend as they paid tribute to the servicemen and women who have served their country - and the many who have paid the ultimate price of their life.
Across the borough Remembrance Day parades and church services were held and wreaths and poppy crosses laid in memory of those lost in conflicts around the world.
Veterans, dignitaries and the public stood shoulder to shoulder to remember the borough's heroes of war during a special service at St Alphege Church.
Wreaths were laid and a silence was observed by those paying their respects.
Observer photographer Jon Mullis attended the parade in Solihull where Armistice Day - the end of World War One was also marked on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month - which this year also fell on Remembrance Sunday.
