HUNDREDS of people flocked to a fun day at Shirley Park on Tuesday (August 28).

The Girl Guides were on hand to run craft activities while there were rides, a variety of stalls and sporting activities for youngsters to get involved in at Shirley Park.

And people could get up close with all kinds of wildlife such as owls, spiders and snakes.

Proceeds from the event of £400 will go towards the Shirley Christmas lights fund.

Becki Leonard, one of the organisers, said: "It was a fantastic day and Shirley people came out in their hundreds.

"It was so nice to see so many people out and about in the park."

Observer photographer Jon Mullis captured these photos of the day.
