MUSIC filled the air as hundreds of people attended a celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of Shirley Pipe Band.
A day long event was held at Shirley Golf Course featuring entertainment focused on traditional music and dance.
As well as music from the band there were also performances from saxophone ensemble AD Saxes, award-winning folk singer Lucy Ward and Scottish Country Dancers while Solihull Mayor Ken Hawkins was also in attendance.
The pipe band mainly play around the Midlands but they have also performed further afield in the UK and Europe.
They evolved from the Drum and Bugle Band of the 1st Shirley Scouts and members of the Scouts went along to the celebration.
The band practice in Shirley on Tuesdays and Fridays and are keen to hear from anyone wishing to join them.
For more information visit www.shirleypipeband.com or call Simon Hayward, the band's secretary, on 07814 314097 or 024 76440263.
