EMOTIONAL tributes have been paid to a father and son who died in a head-on collision.
Derek Sarkar, 46, and his 14-year-old son Ethan, from Sheldon, were killed in the crash on the A614 Selby Road near Goole in Yorkshire which also claimed the life of the driver in the other vehicle.
Mr Sarkar's wife Karen, 43, and daughter Abbie, nine, were travelling in the back of their VW Golf and suffered critical injuries.
They were taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance where their condition is described as serious.
The crash happened at around 1.30pm on Saturday (April 7) and it is believed the family were on an Easter break.
According to Facebook, Ethan was a pupil at King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy while Mr Sarkar had been a student at King's Heath Boys School when he was younger.
In a statement their devastated family said: "Derek was a wonderful father, husband and a lively and central part of our family.
"Ethan was at the heart of all our lives, their loss to us is beyond belief.
"We thank all Derek and Ethan’s friends for their kind words, thoughts and support, they mean a lot to us and we know they will be missed by all of you.
"We also understand that there is a third victim in this tragic accident and our hearts and thoughts go out to her family and friends."
Messages have flooded in on a tribute page set up on Facebook.
One read: "RIP Ethan and your dad I'm going to miss that beautiful smile, wish you were still here.
"Take care, God bless, love you."
While another read: "Ethan I've known you since you were really little and I watched you grow up, you were such a cheeky beautiful boy, always had a smile on your face.
"You will never be forgotten but always remembered as the lovely boy you were, God needed another angel.
"But you're safe with your dad now. RIP Ethan and Derek. Praying for Abbie and Karen."
The family's VW Golf collided head-on with a Volvo driven by 70-year-old Sheila Lee from York who also died.
It is understood Mrs Lee was on her way to visit her paedophile husband Anthony Barry Lee who is serving a seven-year sentence for indecent assault against children at Doncaster Prison.
Debbie Hinchcliffe, who lives close to the scene, heard the impact of the crash and rushed to help.
She said other accidents have happened in the same location but that pleas for action to be taken have not changed anything.
"How many accidents and deaths is it going to take before they do something?" she said.
