Meriden travellers lose appeal

27/03 Updated: 27/03 16:20

TRAVELLERS in Meriden fighting to stay on green belt land have had their appeal thrown out by Birmingham High Court.

The group moved onto the Eaves Green Lane site in 2010 and wanted to overturn Secretary of State Eric Pickles' decision to refuse planning permission.

Campaigners from Meriden Residents Against Inappropriate Development (RAID) were at the High Court to hear the outcome of the appeal.

The travellers have been told they will have to leave the site by March 31, 2013 with the area restored to its previous condition by April 30, 2013.
