Belper 3 Olton and West Warwicks 1
EHL Conference North
OLTON fell to their first defeat of 2012 on Saturday in what proved a real game of two halves.
The visitors dominated the first 35 minutes before fading away in the second half to allow Belper to capitalise and score two goals in the final ten minutes to take the victory.
A host of opportunities came Olton’s way in the first half but they were unable to take advantage and despite dominating went in level at 0-0 at half time.
Belper broke the deadlock midway through the second half when a reverse stick shot found the top corner.
Olton drew level after a fortunate long ball deflected through to Angus Grieve who was fouled by the keeper, Daniel Sulway coolly converted the penalty flick.
That was as good as it got for Olton though as the remainder of the match saw a ruthless Belper bury the few chances that came their way.
THE Ladies were beaten 3-0 at Canterbury in the Investec Premier Division.
In their first outdoor league match for two and a half months, Olton were on top for the first 53 minutes as they created chances whilst keeping their opponents at bay.
Their defence was finally beaten though from a penalty corner and two further strikes in the 61st and 66th minutes condemned Olton to a long and pointless journey home.
