Solihull youngsters start the year in good form

THE good form of 2011 continued for Solihull CC's youngsters as 2012 got underway when competing in the latest round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League in Worcester on New Year's Day.

A strong wind made conditions difficult but it did not stop Jack Ravenscroft and Danny Fox impressing once again in the u16/u14 race.

The duo put in last lap bursts to secure a stunning one-two and set themselves up superbly for this weekend's National Cyclo-Cross Championships near Ipswich.

Solihull CC's strength in depth was also demonstrated with high placings for Ethan Lee, Joe Stanton and Scott Aitken.

For the girls, once again Lucy Shaw, naturally a track rider and sprint finisher used the races as great winter training.

In the full women's race, Becki Keogh once again put in a solid performance to follow-up her recent great rides.

There were lots of Solihull colours flying in the u12s race as well with ten riders taking to the start line.

Lichfield CCC's Lewis Askey dominated to take the win with team-mate Toby Barnes in second.

Solihull's Matt Shaw finished third with Ben Breakwell, Oliver Gunn and twins Jacob and Harrison Knight finishing fifth to eighth in that order. James Alexander completed a Solihull dominated top ten.
