Gloucester City 1 Solihull Moors 0
Conference North
A FIERY affair at Gloucester on Saturday ended with Moors falling to a narrow defeat in a contest that saw Andre Francis dismissed late on.
Gloucester saw an early goal ruled out for a push before Moors' Michael Blackwood was involved in an exchange with Matt Lock and was perhaps lucky to only be shown the yellow card.
The only goal of the contest arrived in the 14th minute when Gloucester captain Tom Webb volleyed home from just inside the box but Moors keeper Jas Singh will have been disappointed not to do better.
Jordan Fitzpatrick was unable to convert Moors' first opening of the afternoon before Blackwood cleared off the line from Tom Hamblin at the other end.
Moors looked more threatening during spells in the second half but were wasteful in possession on too many occasions, allowing the hosts to clear.
Francis was then dismissed with seven minutes left but it was the visitors who came closest to scoring in the closing stages despite being a man down when Ryan Beswick's free kick shaved the post.
Moors host Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday (3pm) and will hope to gain revenge for a 3-1 defeat suffered in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season.
