A TEENAGE dancer is just a few steps away from claiming the top prize on a television show.
Rebecca Scott, 13, from Solihull, and her partner Lloyd Perry, 13, featured on Sky1's Got To Dance on Sunday where they impressed the judges with their Latin routine.
The duo have to wait to hear whether they have made it through to the final 30 who will perform in live semi-finals and face a public vote to decide the eight finalists.
Speaking to the Observer, Rebecca revealed her dedication to dance as she travels to train with Lloyd in Wales twice a week She said: "I started ballet when I was three and then I began dancing Latin and ballroom when I was five. I enjoyed ballet and then suddenly a whole new style came along.
"There were a lot of characters and different styles and there are so many different things you can do.
"I think I may have missed out on things because of the amount I practice but there is nothing in the world I love more than dancing."
The couple's hard work soon paid off as they won their first title, the UK Jive Championship in 2008, just 16 weeks after they began dancing together.
Rebecca has had the opportunity to travel all around the world, performing in Bulgaria, Holland and Disneyland and she said if they win the £250,000 prize, the money will allow them to attend more competitions abroad as well as fund teaching from international experts.
"It's fabulous to go to these places and broaden my horizons. We are very dedicated and we want to do so much so the prize money would be amazing," she said.
Rebecca faces a nervous wait until the end of January to hear whether they have made it through to the next round of the competition but she said regardless of the result she was pleased with the performance they gave the judges West End star Adam Garcia, singer Kimberly Wyatt and lead dancer from Diversity, Ashley Banjo.
She said: "Being in front of the camera we didn't feel scared, we loved it. We always perform to an audience and the cameras were just another audience so it was normal for us."
The next episodes of Got To Dance are on Sky1 and 2 over the weekend.
