Hunt for pensioner who stole from shops

A PILFERING pensioner is believed to be responsible for a series of thefts at shops in Knowle.

The woman – thought to be in her mid to late 60s – has been caught on camera at a designer ladies wear store in Knowle stuffing a pair of trousers inside her jacket before walking off without paying.

And local police are looking into whether she could be behind several other shoplifting incidents in the area.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Rhett Collier, said: “It’s understood the woman entered Cristal Ladies Wear in St John’s Way, Knowle, on October 27 last year, took the trousers from a hangar and placed them under her coat.

“She then made straight for the exit and made no attempt to pay for the garment.

"You tend not to associate shoplifting with older members of the public but in this case it appears the suspect is a pensioner.”

The woman was around 5' 5" tall with grey, curly shoulder length hair.

"She was wearing glasses, a black hat – though it’s unclear whether these form part of a ‘disguise’ and a blue, thigh-length jacket," added DC Collier.

She had a distinctive walk and limped slightly on her left leg.
