AN author who started a writing group has gone back to her roots in her third book.

Anne Santos, from Balsall Common, has been writing articles, poems and short stories for many years and her book A Side Glance to God follows I Am Dog and Another Sun Shines.

The story in Anne's latest book begins in 1945 when three men return to Liverpool after World War Two.

Destined for the priesthood by his mother Maggie, Gillon Hardy visits Rome as a postulant where he meets beautiful and wealthy, yet purposeless Leigh-Anne St.Clair and the story traces how the meeting changes their lives.

Anne said: "This started as a short story after a visit to Rome. A friend thought it was worth expanding into a novel and it just grew.

"As I was born in Liverpool and then lived for many years in Scotland where I did family counselling and was a Samaritan, I used backgrounds I knew."

A Side Glance to God is available to download from Amazon now and will be published in paperback from January 7.

To meet like-minded people Anne started Balsall Writers which has two groups - one for those who are writing to get published and another for beginners who write for pleasure.

Space is still available for writers who would like to join the beginners group which meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7.15pm at Anne's house.
