Fentham Hall hopes to go solar
03 August. Updated: 03 August 17:23
MONEY-SAVING plans to install solar panels on Fentham Hall in Hampton in Arden have been submitted to Solihull Council.
The eco-friendly proposal by A Wooldford Architects on behalf of the George Fentham Trust is to place 16 solar panels on the south-facing roof of the main hall in Marsh Lane.
In the application the architect explains that the proposal would supplement and provide an efficient and green solution to the building's heating and hot water requirements which would allow the George Fentham Trust to invest the money saved from high cost heating bills back into the community and the ongoing maintenance of the hall itself.
The panels, if approved, would sit on the south facing roof at the rear of the hall, enabling maximum exposure to the sun and being hidden from public view.
"We believe the proposals provide a good solution to the increased running costs of such a facility and ensure sufficient funds are available to secure its futre," the architect explains in the application.
"This is a responsible step forward by the George Fentham Trust within the backdrop of central Government's agenda."
No recommendation has yet been made by planning officers, but a decision by the planning commitee will be made before the September 16 deadline.
