Appeal for information after car torched
03 August. Updated: 03 August 17:23
POLICE in Solihull are appealing for information from the public after a car was stolen and torched in the middle of a public footpath.
The burglary took place overnight on Thursday (July 21) into Friday (July 22) on Mullensgrove Road, Kinghurst.
A Citroen Berlingo was stolen and found a day later, less than half a mile away from the scene.
It had been raced around the local park, causing damage to benches and plants throughout park land before being torched in the middle of a public footpath, dangerously close to a children's playground.
Also found in the park were the remains of what police believe to be a scooter stolen during a burglary in Kingshurst Way earlier this month.
PC Tom Jones, from Kingshurst and Fordbridge Neighbourhood Team, has worked in the area for nearly nine years and said it was 'the most disgusting act of disrespect and mindless damage' he has ever witnessed.
"I would urge anyone who has any information about these incidents to contact police."
Anyone with any information can call Solihull Police on 0345 113 5000 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
